Easily Send audio files through Gmail (A Quick Guide)

You can send audio files through Gmail by attaching them to your email before sending them off to your recipient. Alternatively, you can use Google Drive or cloud-based file transfer services like Wetransfer to email larger audio files.

How To Send Audio Files Through Gmail

In this article, I will guide you through four (3) methods you can use to quickly and easily send audio files through Gmail.

Method 1 – Attach the audio files directly to the email

1 – Go to your Gmail inbox.

2 – Click the compose button to the right of the page.

3 – Give the email a subject, add your recipient(s) email address, and type out a message.

4 – Click the attachment icon at the bottom of the compose box.

5 – In the file explorer, select the audio files and click upload

6 – Click the send button

Note! If the size of the audio files exceeds 25 MB, they will be uploaded to google drive and sent to your recipient as a link. 

Method 2 – Upload The audio files to Google Drive and Attach Them to the Email

1 – Go to drive.google.com.

2 – Click the new button to the right of the page.

3 – Select “new folder” from the menu.

4 – Give the folder a name, then click the create button.

5 – Open the newly created folder.

6 – Click the new button again.

7 – Select file upload from the dropdown menu.

8 – Select your audio files and click upload.

9 – Return to Gmail and compose an email.

10 – Click on the “insert files using drive” icon.

11 – In the Google Drive popup, open the folder containing your audio files, select the audio files you wish to send then click the insert button.

12 – Enter your recipient(s) email address, give the email a subject, and send the email.  

Method 3 – Use a Cloud-based File transfer service

1 – Go to wetransfer.com and accept the terms and conditions

2 – Click the upload files button.

3 – Select the audio files you wish to send from your file explorer and click the upload button.

4 – Fill out the transfer form by entering the following: your recipient’s Gmail email address in the To field, your email address in the “from” field, the subject of the email in the title field, and an optional message.

6 – Click transfer to send your audio files

1 – Go to sendbig.com.

2 – Click the add files or folder icon at the top of the form

3 – Select the audio files you wish to send, then click the upload button.

4 – Enter your Gmail email address in the “from” field and your recipient’s email address in the “to” field

5 – Enter an optional email message and click the send icon
