Remove All Imported Emails From Gmail (Complete Guide)

To remove imported emails from Gmail, filter your inbox to show only the imported emails, then delete all emails within that filter.

I have removed imported emails from my inbox before and in this article, I will show you how to do the same.

1 – Stop Gmail From Importing Emails

The first step to removing imported emails in Gmail is ensuring that new emails don’t get imported while you are deleting the ones that are currently there. 

1 – From your Gmail inbox click on the gear icon ⚙️ at the top right of the page.

2 – In the quick settings menu click on the see all settings button.

3 – Navigate to the accounts and imports tab.

4 – Click on the stop button link in the “import mail and contacts” row.

5 – Confirm that you would like to stop email by clicking the “ok” button in the confirmation box.

2 – Increase The Number Of Emails Per Page To Show More Than 50 

This step is not necessary if you plan to remove all imported emails. However, it can be useful if you would like to select which emails you want to delete and which ones you want to keep. 

1 – From the all settings page navigate to the general tab.

2 – Change the “show 50 conversations per page” option to 100 in the “maximum page size” row.

3 – Scroll down to the end of the settings page and click on the save changes button.

3 – Filter Gmail Inbox by Imported Emails  

In Gmail, imported emails are automatically grouped under a custom label. By default, the custom label is named with the email address from which the emails were imported.

1 – To view all imported emails click on the custom email label that is located in the menu to the left of the page.

4 – Delete Imported Emails From Gmail 

When deleting imported emails you have two options. You can either delete all imported emails at once or manually select each email that you would like to delete. 

1 – Select all visible emails within the imported filter by checking the empty select box at the top right of the page.

2 – Click on the link above the first selected email in the list that asks to select all emails from the imported email address.

3 – Once all emails are selected, click on the trash can 🗑 located in the top menu to delete all imported emails.

4 – Click on the “ok” button in the confirmation box to confirm that you would like to delete all selected emails.

5 – Hover your pointer over the imported label and click on the three vertical dots to the right of it.

6 – Click on the “remove label” option in the pop-out menu.

7 – Navigate to the Gmail trash folder by clicking on the trash 🗑 label in the menu to the left.

8 – Within the trash folder click on the “empty trash now” button to delete all imported emails from Gmail forever.
